WA - White Fused Alumina


WA is a fused white alumina abrasive powder produced by crushing fused alumina and sorting the particles into a uniform size. The resulting compound has the following characteristics:

  • An α‑type corundum crystal configuration
  • At least a 96.0% pure aluminum oxide (Al2O3) composition
  • A hardness nearly equal to silicon carbide
  • A closely controlled particle-size distribution
  • A consistent particle shape

These characteristics make WA a superb choice for high-level surface polishing and as a material in items such as:

  • Super-finishing precision grindstones
  • Super-finishing lapping cloth or paper
  • Lapping tape for super-precision surface finishing
  • Precision lapping of materials such as metals, quartz crystal, and semiconductor having low tensile strength

  • Chemically inert
  • Able to bear high temperatures

  • Very consistent in its reaction to organic matter
